PMR Installation Instructions

Thank you for your PMR L7 purchase. These instructions are meant to help you understand how to successfully install your new bolt system. If you have any questions, or you feel a step was left out please contact me at todd@techtpaintball.com

I hope you enjoy your new bolt system.

THE INSTALL

1. Remove your old bolt from the back of the marker. This uses a 1/4 allen wrench.
2. Remove the bolt tip oring from your stock bolt. You may need to use a pick or something sharp to do this. A tooth pick is a easy to find tool for doing this. If you use a metal tool, be sure not to scratch the parts.
3. Separate the front bolt sleeve from the middle portion of the bolt. You do this by unscrewing the two parts.
4. Slide the bolt out from the front bolt sleeve.
5. Remove the 4 set screws that hold the back cap to the middle section of the stock bolt assembly. Do not loose them as we will need to use them with the L7.
6. Remove the back cap. This is easiest by kin da twisting and pulling. All 4 screws must be totally removed to make this happen easily.
7. Clean the old grease and any debris off your front bolt sleeve. I suggest using paper towel to do this.

8. Remove the bolt tip o-ring from the L7. Again, don't damage/scratch the bolt when you do this.

9. Apply a nice layer of grease to the outside of the L7 bolt head. Grease everything. Don't go too crazy. Too much grease can cause a mess in your barrel when you first shoot.

Here we are using our new "Gun Sav" Grease. It is super, super slick, and long lasting. We recommend it not because we make it, but because its the slickest and smoothest grease we have EVER seen.

I tested every grease available before I decided to make this grease. Other greases just don't cling to the parts like this stuff.

For months now we have offered this grease to our most trusted dealers. Everyone of them has agreed that this is better than ANY grease they have ever used. If this wasn't the case, I would not have offered the grease for sale to the public. I don't want to just make another product, I want to only make the best products.

That's just how I roll.

Try some....you'll love it.

10. Apply a nice layer of grease to the inside of the front bolt sleeve.
11. Slide the L7 Bolt Head into the bolt sleeve. Put the bolt-tip o-ring back on the bolt head.

12. Pop the end cap onto the back of the L7 Bolt Body. Install the 4 set screws that hold the end cap in place. Slowly screw them in until you feel resistance. Then back them out a turn or so. If the screws are too tight the back cap won't spin freely. If the back cap won't spin freely loosen up the screws some.

They can not hang out like the ones in the picture or else the bolt will not go in. They all need to be recessed into the bolt body. Do not tighten them in though...they just need to be slightly below the surface of the bolt.

On the stock bolt one set screw hangs out to line up the air passages. That is not the case with our bolt. There is no lining up the parts.

13. Apply some grease to the inner top-hat oring.

This will make the bolt slide real nice.

14. Grease the outer o-rings with a nice layer of grease. This makes the whole bolt slide in real nice.

Also, make sure all the parts are screwed together tightly. This will make sure everything fits nice.

Note : Your bolt may not look like this one exactly because this is the beta version. This is ok. There is no need to panic.

15. Gently slide the bolt assembly. back into the marker. Tighten down the back cap.

Be sure not to cross thread the back cap. You need to just carefully and slowly screw it in. its plastic....so be careful. I've messed up one myself.

The SET-UP

This part of the install is very easy to do, however if you are not familiar with adjusting the settings I recommend that you consult your owners manual and various other available resources before you begin.

Adjusting your dwell, ABS, and Input Pressure is crucial to making this bolt to its maximum potential. Please read carefully and follow along.

If you are not sure of what you are doing....ask for help. If you are getting poor results...its not the bolt's fault....its just not set up correctly.

With patience and an understanding of what you are doing, your marker will shoot very nice with my bolt.

1. Turn your ABS (Anti Bolt Stick) OFF. Consult the PMR User Manual (page 4) and

Also on page 4 of your PMR manual learn how to adjust your dwell.

Adjust your dwell to 25 for the people with the stock board....20 if you are using the UL Frame.

2. Go to your local field and chrono your marker to 300 FPS or whatever you chrono to your your field.

3. Once you get it shooting 300fps and the marker looks and feels like its performing well, put a hopper on the marker and test fire a stream of paint. If all is good.....go play a game with this setup. If the consistency is good during the game(accuracy), after the game, lower their dwell by one flash. Then go play another game.... see if the change in dwell noticeably negatively affected the consistency (accuracy). If not, lower the dwell again by 1 after that game. Continue to lower and test until you notice a loss of consistency at low and high rates of fire. At this point you need to increase your dwell back up to regain the consistency. I would go up one to two flashes in dwell just to be safe.

That's it. Lower your dwell after each game you play until you start to notice drop off or inconsistent shots. Then go up 1 or 2. This is how you fine tune the set-up.

For the best performance out of your bolt I strongly recommend using a fresh Energizer Lithium 9volt battery or a fresh Duracell 9 volt. Don't use cheap or old batteries. The really do provide poor results. This style of bolt strongly relies on a fresh battery for max performance.

Also...make sure your in-line regulator is clean and working well. When your regulator gets dirty and or needs grease you will get drop-off regardless of your dwell and you will be inconsistent regardless of your paint to barrel match, dwell, pressure, or bolt assembly.

On page 12 of the PMR User Manual they cover how to clean and service your Hyper2 inline reg pretty well. Read it carefully and you should be able to do it without messing anything up. If you have some other regulator you will need to consult their manual in order to know how to properly care for it.

I can not stress how important a clean and greased regulator is. I would do it every 10,000 shots for best results. Its easy to do after you do it once or twice. The results are well worth the time. With any regulator there is a break-in time. Meaning that the performance of your regulator will increase after you put 2000-3000 shots on it.

Spacers

The spacers were designed to give your more adjustability with your marker. For a while now the buzz with spool valve guns has been to have adjustable sized firing chambers. Some people feel that the higher the pressure the more shots per tank you get. Others feel that the higher pressure will also yield better consistency at high rates of fire.

With no spacers your marker will operate at the lowest pressure, and with all the spacers, you will get the highest operating pressure.

How many spacers you use is up to you. Personally I like to have a low pressure...so I use no spacers. Other people like the feel of the higher pressure set-up. Its all personal preference. As far as efficiency goes, I found very little to no change in shots per tank between no spacers installed and 2 installed. The kit comes with 2 spacers, so play around, and see what you like most. If you are using brittle paint, or in cold weather, I would use no spacers.

Either way, let me know what you guys think and what set-up worked best for you.

Well that's it guys. I hope this info has helped. If you have any problems with the installation and setup of the bolt please feel free to contact me. My email is todd@techtpaintball.com

Be Proactive!!! Get some Extra Orings!!!

As with anything paintball, the L7 takes orings. Some common, some not so common. This could save you a headache in the future.
