CO2 is the old way to power a paintball gun. Its still used by some, but its not ideal. It often freezes the seals and inside the gun, and its pressure fluctuates and that makes your gun shoot very consistently and also effects accuracy. It can be used in some Tippmanns and Spyders, but again, its not recommended. Some sporting good stores still fill CO2 tanks, so that makes it more appealing when there are no paintball stores or fields that fill compressed air tanks. You want nothing less than a 20oz CO2 tank if you are going to use it. The bigger tank allows the CO2 to expand inside the tank from a liquid to a gas. You only want CO2 gas going through your gun, if liquid CO2 gets in your gun, it most certainly will freeze the seals and cause a leak.
